October is World Mental Health Month. World Mental Health Day- October 10th 2023

World Mental Health Month takes place this October and October 10th marks World Mental Health Day.

World Mental Health Day provides the opportunity to raise awareness about global mental health issues and creates the opportunity for people to call for action and advocate for change in mental health.

This year’s theme is Mental Health is a Universal Human Right’.

Mental Health Promotion in Higher Education Report. Launched September 11th 2023

In April 2023, young people and professionals came together to highlight what is needed to achieve better mental health and a sense of belonging for students in third-level education. Today, September 11th 2023, the report on the findings of this event is launched.

Jigsaw, the youth mental health charity, and HSE Mental Health and Wellbeing, co-hosted a roundtable event which gathered together university staff, national stakeholders and higher education students from across Ireland to talk through what is needed to support the mental health of higher education students.

Minister Butler launches new HSE National Youth Mental Health Office. September 11th 2023

Minister for Mental Health and Older People Mary Butler has today announced the launch of the new National Youth Mental Health Office in the Health Service Executive (HSE). The new National Office will focus on delivering strengthened and more integrated supports for child and youth mental health care across Ireland.

This new HSE office will provide for coordinated input across service, legislative and policy developments for all child and youth mental area areas, from prevention and early intervention to the specialised Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
