Minister Harris announces €5 million in Student Supports (24/08/2020)

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD, has today (24/08/2020) announced a comprehensive financial package of €5 million to support students' wellbeing and mental health.

This significant funding increase comes at a time of great urgency around student support and re-opening planning for the next academic year. It reflects the original €2 million funding for student mental health and wellbeing allocated to higher education for 2020 along with a further €3 million as a response to COVID-19.

Free "Life Skills Online" programme (Aware) opens for registration Monday, 10th August, 2020 at 4pm.

The next free Aware "Life Skills Online" programme opens for registration on Monday, 10th August. The Life Skills Online programme is comprised of eight modules. Based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the Life Skills programmes are designed to help participants learn more about how we think and how this can influence our actions in helpful or unhelpful ways.

Nurse Theresa Lowry Lehnen accredited as an IUHPE Registered Health Promotion Practitioner

ISHA member Theresa Lowry Lehnen, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Associate Lecturer at Institute of Technology Carlow has met the rigorously applied competency and professional practice criteria for accreditation of her work in health promotion with the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).

The Sexual Experiences Survey (SES) 2020 was completed by 6,026 undergraduate and postgraduate students at Irish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) during February March 2020. The survey was a collaboration between the Active* Consent programme at NUI Galway and the Union of Students in Ireland.
