Congratulations to Nurse Theresa Lowry Lehnen, SETU, Carlow Campus, who is listed in HPN ‘Professional 100’ for the 3rd year running! 

‘Professional 100’ is a prestigious annual list celebrating 100 of Ireland’s most influential hospital and healthcare professionals across a range of disciplines, for driving innovation, research and excellence across the healthcare sectors. 

In ‘Professional 100’ 2023, Theresa is recognised for her extensive contribution to education as a major contributor to medical, nursing and pharmaceutical journals and medical newspaper publications, with over 200 clinical articles published in recent years. Her academic work has been used to create CPD modules across the disciplines for doctors, nurses and pharmacy teams. In March of this year, Theresa was presented with the ‘Nurse Educator’ award by Rachel Kenna, Chief Nursing Officer at the Department of Health, at the INCA 25th Jubilee and excellence awards, at Trinity College. This award is dedicated to a nurse who contributes as a leader in nursing education, and who has made a significant and note-worthy contribution to nursing and education. Theresa is also recognised in 'Professional 100' 2023 for her notable work in the area of contraception and sexual health. In May 2023, she was awarded both the ‘Nursing Project of the Year’ and the ‘Student Intervention’ of the year awards at the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards for her Nurse Prescriber (RNP) delivered Free Contraception and Sexual Health Services for Third Level Students, at South East Technological University, Carlow Campus. In the past 12 months, she carried out over 1,700 complete episodes of care for contraception and sexual health/STI consultations in her practice.
