New Student Medical Centre opens at UCC

University College Cork has opened a new Student Medical Centre. Located on the ground floor of the new Crow’s Nest development and accessed via the Carrigrohane Straight Road, the new world-class healthcare facility will provide for:

  • 9 consulting rooms
  • a 2-bedded treatment room
  • a physiotherapy suite
  • a staff meeting room
  • an expanded reception and administration spaces
  • and a 30-seat waiting room with self-check in area

The new centre was formally opened this week by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris who praised the college for their investment in student wellbeing. At the opening ceremony, Minister Harris was joined by the Head of Student Health Service at UCC, Dr Michael Byrne and the President of UCC, Professor John O’Halloran.

Professor John O’Halloran, UCC President, said: "Today we open a stunning new purpose-built Student Health Centre in UCC. Generations of students will benefit from this facility, and I wish to thank the Minister for Further & Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science for his support and our staff who drove the development of this fantastic health centre."

Dr Michael Byrne, Head of Student Health Service at UCC, said: “I am delighted that this new facility has opened for our students in UCC. The increased space, expanded equipment, and fantastic facilities will allow us to deliver the full range of Student Health services in a comfortable, calm, and professional environment. We look forward to serving our students in these premises for years to come."
