The HSE is organising into 6 new health regions in 2024. Each health region will provide integrated health and social care services for the people in that area. The 6 health regions will replace Hospital Groups (HGs) and Community Healthcare Organisations (CHOs). Work is progressing to establish all 6 health regions from 1st March 2024. Two health regions, HSE Mid West and HSE Dublin South East have begun operating, with Regional Executive Officers appointed. The HSE will remain a single HSE organisation with 6 health regions.
