Success on the Double for Nurse Theresa Lowry-Lehnen at the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards and Irish Practice Nurses Association Conference!
This past weekend proved to be an incredibly hectic, but very fruitful one, for Theresa Lowry-Lehnen, our valued ISHA colleague and Assistant PRO. She achieved a double success in relation to her smoking cessation interventions as part of the 'Smokeless Campus' initiative in IT Carlow, with her winning the 'Nursing Project of the Year' award of the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards (IHCA) and the 'Educational Bursary' at the 2019 Irish Practice Nurses Association (IPNA) Conference.
These successes follow close on the heels of her having been nominated and shortlisted for a second successive year for the 'Practice Nurse of the Year' award at the GP Buddy Awards.
The IHCA awards were held on Friday 27th September in the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin, where her achievement was personally acknowledged by Paul Reid, the recently newly appointed CEO of the HSE. Theresa then had to travel to Galway the following day, Saturday 28th, to attend the IPNA Conference where she gave a presentation on her work and was awarded their 2019 Educational Bursary.
For all of us involved in the Irish Student Health Association who know Theresa, it is wonderful to see her energy, enthusiasm and hard work acknowledged and rewarded so fittingly on a national stage, and on the double!
Well done Theresa!!!
